Why Are We Out Here? Running the Bridger Ridge

Outside Bozeman Summer 2025. I like how the story came out. As is often the case, their pushing me to make edits helps bring the story into better focus. We only disagreed on one thing, the last short paragraph. Unfortunately in my mind, they have final say so they won that battle.


This was my last paragraph:


We all have our reasons; we all may have many reasons.  For all these reasons, I’m just glad that I am still able to be out there.  At a few points along the course, I sang out to anyone within earshot, “Not dead yet!”  That’s all the reason I need to be out there.

Nice write up, Chuck! Really captured the spirit and atmosphere of being out there. I think I actually like the editors version of the last paragraph more, but curious how you see the difference and what their version is missing.
